Pyrethroid refers to a class of synthetic chemical compounds designed to mimic the insecticidal properties of natural pyrethrins, which are derived from chrysanthemum flowers. These substances are widely used in agriculture, household insect control, and public health for pest management. While effective against a broad spectrum of insects, pyrethroids pose environmental concerns due to their persistence and potential toxicity to non-target organisms, particularly aquatic life.
